Monthly close, year-round

Stop rebuilding a year of books every spring.

Hand over twelve months of receipts once a year and you pay for the reconstruction twice, in fees and in the weeks it eats. We close your books monthly, so the return at year-end is a handover.

We actually answer. Typical reply in under 15 minutes during business hours.

Who this is for

The scramble usually starts one of these six ways.

  • You are a few months behind, and every month that passes makes the catch-up longer and dearer.
  • Your corporate return is due and the books behind it are nowhere near ready.
  • You run entities on both sides of the border and the two sets of records never quite line up.
  • Your accountant bills you for cleanup every year before they can even start on the return.
  • You are making decisions off a bank balance, because there are no current numbers to look at.
  • You have outgrown doing it yourself and you are nowhere near a full-time hire.

Recognise yourself in one of these? Book the consult and we will tell you what a month of your books actually takes, and what it costs, before you commit to anything.

What you get

What a monthly close covers

Included

  • Bank and credit card reconciliation every month
  • Payables and receivables kept current, not reconstructed at year-end
  • Payroll entries recorded and reconciled
  • GST/HST tracked and filed where you are registered
  • A monthly pack: profit and loss, balance sheet, cash position
  • A year-end file handed straight to the tax team, which is the same team
  • One named person who owns the file end to end

What changes a fee

Your fee is scoped and agreed in writing before we start. It moves for one reason only: the work moves. These are the things that change it.

  • Transaction volume beyond the band we scope you into
  • Additional entities, or additional bank and card accounts
  • Multi-currency accounts
  • Payroll beyond a standard headcount
  • Catch-up work for the months before the engagement starts, quoted once, separately
  • A second sales channel or a new integration to reconcile

Scope boundary

We keep your books and we file the returns that come out of them. There is a boundary on what we take on, and it is set out in full on our credential disclosure page.

Anything that changes the fee is agreed with you before the work happens. Never after.

How monthly bookkeeping is priced here

While we are in there

Books are usually where the reporting question surfaces.

Foreign accounts and foreign-held property show up in the ledger long before anyone asks about the filing that goes with them. If we see one, we will tell you.

Do you also have reporting to file?
Indicative only, not tax advice

If your business holds accounts or property outside the country you file in, FBAR or T1135 reporting may sit on top of the return. Two questions give you an indicative read.

Questions

Bookkeeping questions we get every week

How far behind can I be before you cannot help?
Being behind is the usual reason people call. We look at how many months are open and what state the records are in, then quote the catch-up as a one-time figure separate from the monthly fee, so you can see exactly what you are paying to get current and what you are paying to stay there.
Which accounting software do you work in?
We work in the system you already have wherever that is practical, and we confirm the setup on the consult. We are not naming platforms on this page before your file is scoped, because a list here helps nobody decide anything.
Does monthly bookkeeping really change what year-end feels like?
It changes what year-end is. When the books close every month, the return is prepared from a finished file rather than rebuilt from twelve months of receipts, and the questions we come back to you with are about this month rather than last February. That is a description of how the work runs, not a promise about your deadline.
Who reviews and signs my return?
A tax consultant reviews every return before filing, and returns are reviewed and signed off by a licensed practitioner of record. The full detail is on our credential disclosure page.
How is my fee set?
Volume, entity count and currencies drive it. The consult is where we scope your actual books and confirm a fixed monthly fee in writing, so you will know the number before you agree to anything, not after.
